The AirVenture skies will light up with several air show performers, including the AeroShell Aerobatic Team, Bob Carlton, Bob Davis, Gene Soucy, and Matt Younkin, and will end with a fireworks display. Going once, going twice, SOLD! You'll hear that phrase a time or two at the first ever Spirit of Aviation Auction held on grounds on Saturday, July 31 at 9:30 a.m. The auction will feature all types of consigned aircraft at the Jack Mark Hangar (north side of airport), and the aircraft will be available to view and inspect during AirVenture. Find out more at www.AirVenture.org/auction. Not the bidding type? Try your hand at winning with the EAA Share the Spirit Sweepstakes. Each year, EAA hosts a sweepstakes to support the Young Eagles program and other educational initiatives. Entrants have the opportunity to win great prizes including an Aviat Huskey, Honda Big RedTM MUV, Remos Pilot Center Sport Pilot Certificate, Hamilton Men's Khaki Aviation X-Wind Watch, Canon EOS 50D Kit with Lens, a Bose® Wave® Music System--and, at the same time, help grow aviation. It's this year's WomenVenture t-shirts, which are available to all current and non-current women pilots and student pilots. Distribution will begin Monday, July 26, at the EAA Welcome Center, Women in Aviation International booth, AOPA booth, and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University booth, and will continue throughout the week as supplies last. The highlight of WomenVenture for many is the group photo of women pilots taken in AeroShell Square Friday, July 30 at 10:30 a.m. Women pilots and student pilots can also record their participation on any day by signing the logbook at the EAA Welcome Center. The early bird gets the wor...balloon. A 15 to 20-ship hotair balloon launch is scheduled for Saturday, July 31, and Sunday, August 1, at 6:15 a.m. (weather permitting). "EAA is really pleased to offer a new participation opportunity from the lighter-than-air community," said Adam Smith, EAA vice president of membership. "The sight of these majestic balloons rising along with the sun is a spectacle you won't want to miss." The events don't end at dusk. Legendary band Chicago will be rockin' the stage at AeroShell square on Monday evening, July 26, presented by Ford Motor Company, following the air show. Plus actor Gary Sinise and the Lt.
